Sustainable Futures event hosted by Ku-ring-gai & Hornsby Councils
Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby Councils are jointly hosting a Sustainable Futures Community Event, showcasing sustainable, healthy, and low-cost lifestyles on Saturday September 30 at St Ives Village Green.
Sustainable Futures Day
Bring friends and family for a free, fun day out showcasing healthy, sustainable and low-cost lifestyles.
Hands-on educational stalls will include:
• Everything solar and batteries.
• Electrifying your home.
• Young people for the environment – blend your own fruit smoothie via cycle power.
• Zero waste for everyone – make your own beeswax wrap!
• Composting and worm farming demonstrations.
• Northern Councils towards Net Zero.
Speaker sessions
These will run throughout the day with topics including ‘Solar made Simple’, ‘The Psychology of Climate Change’, ‘Transitioning to green power at home’ and case studies from local Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby homes.
Electric vehicle display
Check out the Hyundai Ioniq, Tesla 3, Tesla Y, Nissan Leaf, MG and Volvo EV among others. Resident owners will be there to answer questions about their driving experience.

Complete the activities in our ‘Sustainable Passport’ on the day and go in the draw to win $1,500 towards changes for a sustainable lifestyle. Residents of Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby are eligible to enter.

Have a chat to our hard-working Net Zero volunteers and local community groups working towards a sustainable and regenerative future for all. You can even become one yourself! Meet Zero Emissions Sydney North, Energyze, Electrifying Bradfield, One Street, St Ives Towards Sustainability and Berowra Sustainability Cooperative.
How does this impact Ku-ring-gai’s Net Zero goal?
We are empowering the community to take simple steps towards living more sustainably and help us reach zero emissions by 2040 through energy, waste and transport.
This event is jointly hosted by Ku-ring-gai & Hornsby Councils and we look forward to seeing many of our residents there on the day.
